Using a Tilt Sensor to Design a Spirit Level for the Visually Impaired

This is a design I did during COVID lockdown.

This article describes the complete design of a spirit level for the visually impaired. It uses an ADXL312 accelerometer to measure gravitational force in the horizontal and vertical planes and sounds a buzzer when the accelerometer is exactly horizontal or vertical.

It can also be used as a tilt sensor to level, say, trailers in automotive applications where the spirit level might be located in a place remote from the jockey wheel. It also has uses as a subcircuit in automotive stability systems or drones
